Special features regarding teachingFor Jacobs, the highest standards in teaching mean a strong interaction between professors and students as well as challenging curricula. Within the department, the courses offer hands-on learning through interactive business games, simulations, case studies, and creative group work. In addition, smaller class sizes, tutorials and feedback sessions enable effective learning and understanding of the theoretical concepts learned in class. During their studies, students also receive individual academic support and career advice.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe university and department are dedicated to internationalism. With the working language being English, all students can quickly find their way around and communicate with international staff without any problems. The professors of the department are internationally networked with universities and companies and can thus provide optimal support for students regarding stays and internships abroad as well as further career paths.

Special features regarding research activitiesOur research focuses on the following topics: Industry 4.0, Digital Transformation, Intelligent Data Management, Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Sharing Economy. On the one hand, we examine the effects of technological developments on industry. On the other hand, we are investigating more sustainable ways of delivering on the last mile and sustainable uses of crowd sourcing in logistics. Our methodological approach is based on both quantitative (simulation and empirical data analysis) and qualitative methods (case studies and interviews)
Support for foundersIf students already have concrete plans to found their own company, they can join the StartUp Option, in which they develop their business plan. The Startup Option is an alternative to an internship in the 5th semester and enables students who are particularly interested in starting their own company to concentrate on developing their business plan. The students participating in the Startup Option are supported by the StartUp coordinator. At the end of the StartUp Option, students submit their business plan.
Other special featuresEnglish-language, highly practice-oriented training with high interdisciplinarity. Students benefit from individual support by professors and through excellent networks with local and international companies. Furthermore, the students are integrated into the research from early on, which guarantees that the content of the course is up to date.
