Special features regarding teachingA special feature of the course is the growing proportion of interprofessional courses (>20%) together with individual or all other health professions courses and the course in human medicine on the campus. This is facilitated by the joint connection to the Section of Medicine (Faculty of Medicine). Another focus is on linking science and practice in nursing from the first semester onwards.

Special features regarding the international orientationIn the area of teaching and studies, there are cooperations with three international universities, although no exchange has yet taken place. In the area of research, there is close cooperation with national and international research partners in the field of nursing science with a focus on nursing and health sciences.

Special features regarding the equipmentAccess to the Cochrane Library, to the subject-specific international scientific literature database CINAHL and to the SCOPUS database; access for all students to the video conferencing system Webex, electronic learning platform Moodle.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe course is linked to two interdisciplinary research centres via the Section for Research and Teaching in Nursing at the Institute of Social Medicine: Centre for Population Medicine and Health Services Research and Centre for Open Innovation in Connected Health. Research activities of both centres have direct relevance for teaching content (e.g. health services research, digital health) or methodological-didactic developments (digital learning) in the study programme. Currently, the Section is conducting several externally funded research projects on the topic of "COVID-19 Pandemic & Care".

Other special featuresThe degree courses in occupational therapy, midwifery, speech therapy, nursing, physiotherapy and medicine provide a range of 'health sciences under one roof' that is unique in Germany. This constellation also opens up new possibilities for learning with and from each other. In this way, the interprofessional university teaching of today guarantees high quality health care for tomorrow.
