  • Special features regarding teaching
The teaching is geared towards the independent assumption of complex care situations. Independence in the acquisition and implementation of knowledge is particularly encouraged.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
VIVES University, Kortrijk, Belgien; Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki, Finland; Università degli Studi di Roma „La Sapienza“, Rom, Italien; Klaipeda State University of Applied Sciences, Klaipeda, Litauen; Viaa Christian University of Applied Sciences Zwolle, Niederlande; VID University College, Oslo, Norwegen; FH Kärnten / Carintha University of Applied Sciences, Villach, Österreich
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The nursing courses have a Skills Lab, a simulation unit for nursing situations in practice. Work processes in intensive care, geriatric care or obstetrics can be demonstrated and practised in a realistic environment. For this purpose, in addition to different formats of nursing beds, various simulation mannequins, a fully equipped nursing bathroom, a kitchen suitable for the disabled as well as a large number of devices and nursing aids are available. In this way, practical contents of the studies can be practised directly.
  • Special features regarding research and development
One research focus is on communication with and training of severely brain-damaged patients in need of care, including the associated ethical, legal and social aspects (NeuroCommTrainer). The use of technology in the mobilisation of patients in need of the highest level of care and intensive care is a further focus (ROBINA, MobIPaR). Staff members of the degree course also conduct historical research on the work of the Caritas Sisterhood.
