Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
Various forms of teaching are used in addition to traditional lectures: Tri-national project groups, exercises, case studies, simulation games and (foreign-language) presentations. A third of the curriculum consists of management and communication subjects. These professional, methodological and intercultural skills offer a wide range of possible applications: Classic engineering tasks, project management work – as well as positions in internationally oriented companies.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Each cohort forms an intercultural learning group consisting of German, French and Swiss students, who alternate between full semesters at the partner universities. This means that students spend 2/3 of their degree abroad. The geographical proximity of the university in the border triangle means that lecturers also travel to the neighbouring country to give classes in their native language. This two-level exchange uniquely promotes the mobility and flexibility of participants.
  • Special features regarding research and development
Students work on and examine the applied, practice-oriented problems of partner companies in their research projects and semester papers. In addition to the university facilities, students can also use the relevant infrastructure of the dual partners. The thematic breadth of the projects, some of which have won awards, increasingly cover topics related to digitisation.
  • Other special features
The degree courses is accredited by the Franco-German University and part of the DFH network; since 2011 it has received funding in the amount of more than 500000 euros.
