-
Special features regarding teachingVery good student-professor ratio; subject-specific and interdisciplinary programmes to increase the success rate: online preliminary Mathematics course, mentoring by professors (4-6 in a group), preparatory courses (8-12 in a group), study skills; efficient degree course, particularly when completing theses; ILIAS e-learning portal integrated into the teaching; Small-group concept: group size of approx. < 20 for calculation exercises; specialisation labs: approx. 3-10.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationThe faculty maintains a small number of intensive contacts with recognised foreign universities (Australia, USA, France, Brazil, Poland, Norway), which allows an exchange to be meaningfully incorporated into the degree course. The respective stays abroad are individually planned and designed to ensure they can be seamlessly integrated into the intensive study programme.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has very good technical equipment in the laboratories so as to be able to offer all students practical training at the same time. As students on intensive study programmes are also required to complete their final theses within a certain time period, the availability of the test equipment must be maximised and, in particular, high-quality technical equipment is required, and this is ensured. Since the research projects are also carried out in the same laboratories, the students are often directly involved in this work.
-
Special features regarding research activitiesThe Faculty of Mechanical Engineering undertakes both basic research, which is often publicly funded, and industrially funded contract research. The interaction between these two areas together with the large number of contacts that the professors have with major, leading industrial companies allow for a variety of fundamental and practice-based research activities. Thanks to third-party-funded activities in particular, students have the opportunity to gain initial experience in cooperation with industrial companies, which is highly beneficial for their professional careers later on.
-
Other special featuresCourses of study are offered only in cooperation with institutional cooperation partners that assume all tuition fees and pay a monthly fee. After successful completion of the degree course, graduates are offered attractive career opportunities with the cooperation partner.

(CE)= Civil Engineering (IntDiscip)= very interdisciplinary and thus not classified;
As the ranking is done for the whole subject area, for the single "sub-subjects" it can happen that not all rank groups are represented in all criteria.
