    All lecture theatres are equipped with multimedia; PC workstations available with a comprehensive range of software; The course administration system allows easy access to course information; e-mail accounts for all students; comprehensive economic and company databases; Some lectures are recorded, use of learning platforms such as Moodle and Blackboard.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    The Faculty is expanding its research activities in entrepreneurship, innovation and transformation and has therefore set up a centre for these subjects (CEIT). There are also numerous research activities in the field of sustainability research through participation in the Research Department Closed Carbon Cycle Economy. In addition, a research centre, also interdisciplinary in nature, for intelligent product-service systems (ZESS) was founded.

    “Ready for Start-Up” lecture series; Establishment of “Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transformation” with focus on entrepreneurship education and research; Promotion of regional start-ups; Relevant courses: Start-up simulation, General Management simulation, fundamentals of start-ups, mergers & acquisitions with case-study seminar, development of business models in the financial industry, fundamentals of business plan development; Networking with stakeholders of regional start-up activities; Start-up consulting: Development of a student start-up consultancy.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    Appropriate infrastructure is provided at a central level (Akafö), such as exam rooms with handicapped-accessible computers, provision of a pool of aids and resources (e.g. Braille typewriter, laptop with magnification software), printout of study material via Braille printers for the non-sighted, conversion of black font to Braille, voice output software for the PC.

    Zonta WiWi Prize (for excellent students), taster hours for pupils, appointment of professors and junior professors, English course for employees, travel grants for doctoral students, support for doctoral students in the family phase (e.g. by SHK), mentor programme for doctoral students provided by university teachers or junior professors, one-on-one coaching for doctoral students being developed, “Career Planning in Business” – a workshop series for doctoral students and students (Lore-Agnes projects 2016).

    Since its inception (1965) the Faculty has pursued an integrated, economic-scientific approach in research and teaching – the Bochum model. This approach is reflected particularly in the Bachelor and Master programme “Management & Economics”.
