  • Special features regarding teaching
The (new) education paths: After a period of more than 16 years during which our institution introduced, accredited and notified with the European Union the Bachelor's and Master's degrees, we now respond to the different needs and educational biographies of students: with a career-integrated Master's degree as an alternative to a full-time degree, with recognition of external courses and with the possibility of studying without a school-leaving certificate (Abitur).
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Internationalisation: The curriculum increasingly offers English-speaking courses, often in cooperation with higher education institutions abroad. The number of guest students has also increased accordingly. The excursion abroad has become an integral part of teaching and a year does not pass without travel to other European and non-European countries. It may be possible to attract lecturers from abroad to Bremen in the future via the visiting lecturer programme of the DAAD and internal funding.
  • Common partner universities for exchange
Universiteit Antwerpen, Belgien; Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture Nantes, F; Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza", Italien; Università degli Studi della Basilicata Potenza, Matera, Italien; Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Italien; IT Sligo, Irland; University of Malta; Poznan University of Technology, Polen; Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Spanien; Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spanien
  • Equipment of the work places
The conversion and expansion of the AB building greatly inspired teaching and increased students' motivation to learn. Today there is an adequate number of studios and new areas for exhibition and presentation. The studio rooms have the appropriate dimens
  • Special features regarding research and development
The teaching staff of the SoAB pursue broad-based research related to cities, space and objects through the topics of Planning and Design, Theory and History, Construction and Engineering, Economics and Ecology. They therefore represent the SoAB to a large extent in the Region in Change research cluster of the Hochschule Bremen. Firm roots in everyday student life are important to all stakeholders, particularly in the Master's degree course in Architecture.

  • Other special features
The network: The Architecture training in Bremen relies on good networks at regional and national levels. This guarantees strong practical relevance, continuous input from external experts and exchange with the people and institutions active in the field of architecture. The annual student competitions "Alvar-Aalto Prize" and the "Gerhard-Iversen Prize", which are organised in cooperation with companies and associations as well as with other universities, deserve a special mention.
