Special features regarding teachingIn addition to the required career-specific knowledge, students also gain critical examination skills and an awareness of social responsibility. Every student has access to a workstation in a group area in the 1st to 4th semester; three-week introductory course in the Bachelor’s degree programme and information event on the department’s programme towards the Master’s degree; many subjects of the foundation studies in the 1st to 4th semester are taught in tutorials with groups of 15; very broad subject range in the electives for the Bachelor's and Master's degree course.

Special features regarding the international orientationAgreements with 101 partner universities for student exchange; numerous design/project assignments with international context, including excursions; Certification of a period abroad in the Bachelor’s degree course (Bachelor International Plus); 2 Master´s degree programmes in English: Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design (IUSD) and Integrative Technology and Architectural Design Research (ITECH); regular programme of international lectures; Double degree in the degree course in Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design (IUSD) possible with Ain Shams University Cairo

Special features regarding the equipmentDepartmental workshops (analogue and digital model-building, RoboLab, metal workshop, prototype workshop, architectural photography, studios for artistic techniques) give students an opportunity to check their against a wide range of model-building techniques. In addition to numerous computer workstations, training rooms and specialised acoustic and visual simulations, Casino IT, the departmental computer pool, also offers a plot service and remote access to architecture-specific programs.
