Special features regarding the equipmentVery good rooms and technical facilities, modern laboratories in the fields of Materials, Geoengineering and Mechanics, a clamping frame for construction-related applications, a 1,200 m² hydraulic engineering hall as well as external laboratories near the sewage plant and in the waste-to-energy plant in Kassel.

Special features regarding research activitiesClimate change and environmental protection, technological competition and demographic development place high demands on research and development. The department has addressed these questions and broken them down to the level of civil and environmental engineering in an effort to anchor itself and its areas of research focus within the research profile of the University of Kassel. The main focus is on Materials Engineering, Climate Protection and Socio-Technical Systems for Networked Living.

Support for business start-ups is provided by the start-up agency UNIKAT of Kassel University in the fields of consulting, product development and financing, and by making available rooms in the Science Park Kassel on university grounds.
