  • Special features regarding teaching
Consideration given to different entrance qualifications: For a long time, the faculty has offered prospective students a preliminary course in Mathematics to compensate for the highly varied disparities in Mathematics among first semester students. Another special feature is the module "Consolidation of basic principles" in the first semester where students individually attend lectures from the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Technical English and Presentation Technology. Work is generally carried out in small groups with good supervision.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
The faculty's degree courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering are not internationally oriented, meaning that part of the course does not need to be completed abroad. On average 52% of all students of the HTWG complete a stay abroad as part of the integrated practical semester, their final thesis or as part of an integrated study abroad. The faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering also expressly supports students in its degree courses when they study abroad. There are agreements in place with various partner universities.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The department has nine lecture halls with right of first use. All lecture theatres have LAN/WiFi access. The capacity of the lecture theatres ranges from smaller lecture theatres with 40 places to larger lecture theatres with 70 places. The lecture theatre allocation can be tailored to meet the admission capacities of the degree courses. The planning of lecture theatre allocation is adjusted to meet the current requirements every semester by the course coordinator. The faculty has 12 laboratories, 2 computer rooms, 2 ships, 2 rooms for project work and an electrical workshop.
  • Special features regarding research and development
Research projects of professors of the faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering have been and are carried out in different, thematically relevant areas. Students benefit from these research activities of the professors not only in lectures (through links to the latest scientific findings), but also through direct and active involvement in project work, Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as participation in research projects as academic staff. Several graduates also began doctoral programmes.
