Special features regarding teachingVery good supervision; close contact between teachers and students; student advice and counselling; diverse offers of support; laboratory internships in small groups; project-oriented learning, practice-oriented and highly practical training.

Special features regarding the international orientationLong-standing international collaborations will be expanded and new international collaborations for research and teaching organised. External final theses in the international area and cooperative doctorates with foreign partner universities are supported. The aim is also to make it possible for foreign and domestic students to pursue research and development activities and final theses in the other department.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe department has excellent technical equipment, e.g. through the provision of programming boards, data entry cards and software licenses, etc. It also offers extensive access to electronic databases such as IEEE Xplore and the VDE and VDI standards.

Special features regarding research and developmentParticipation in various institutes such as the Institute for Energy and Process Engineering (IEP), the Institute for Society and Digital Affairs (GUD), the Institute for Interdisciplinarity in Health - Technology - Ability to Work (IGTA), the Institute for Optical Technologies (IOT). Various priority topics such as digitalisation, renewable energies and sustainability, FPGA design, Industry 4.0, battery storage systems, chargers for electric vehicles and highly efficient lighting and drive systems are addressed.

Support for foundersA strong working relationship is in place with TAFH Münster GmbH, the central innovation-promotion and project-development company at FH Münster, and with the university’s team of start-up advisors. A solid network is also in place with the regional business development agency responsible for company start-ups.
