Special features regarding the international orientation
New international partnerships in research and teaching are organised, external final theses in the international area supported and cooperative doctorates with foreign partner universities made possible. The aim is also to make it possible for foreign and domestic students to pursue research and development activities and final theses in the other department.

The department has excellent technical equipment via programming boards, data entry cards and software licenses etc. There is also comprehensive access to electronic databases such as IEEE Xplore and the VDE and VDI set of standards.
Special features regarding research and development
Participation in the ZIM project: development of a method for weather-independent performance determination of photovoltaics plants; With a network simulator the behaviour of components of renewable energies and the smart grid can examined during exceptional grid conditions. This includes battery storage systems, chargers for electric vehicles and highly efficient lighting and drive systems.
Support for founders
A strong working relationship is in place with the Transfer Agency and with the start-up advice team of the university, and there are good links with the regional business development agency, which is responsible for company start-ups.
Other special features
Several courses are project-based in order to prepare students for their future working life.
