About the subject

Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
The Bachelor of Business Law places emphasis on a broad education in both Law and Business Administration. In all theory semesters, case studies are anchored in the curriculum for teaching and practising legal work techniques as well as bridging the gap in practice. The range of majors is based on the main course and is very practice-oriented. The Master's degree is also broad and links law with management issues. The interdisciplinary approach extends to the courses, some of which are held jointly by teachers in both subjects.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
The department has set itself the goal of expanding internationalisation (incoming and outgoing). The 2nd semester of the Master's programme in Legal Management takes place entirely in English or alternatively can be spent abroad. English-language events and theses are specifically promoted.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Dundalk Institute of Technology, Dundalk, Irland; Waterford Institute of Technology, Waterford, Irland; Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu, Vaasa, Finnland; University of South Wales, Pontypridd, Cardiff, GB; University of Technology Sydney, Sydney, Australien.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The department has its own PC laboratory for courses and free use for students. The library provides access to Beck-Online and a large number of databases. In addition, the courses have licenses for specific software (etc. Contract Management, PLM, SAP).
  • Special features regarding research and development
Research takes place in institutes (Konstanz Institute of Corporate Governance, Institute for Applied Research and the Institute for Corporate Law) as well as in smaller projects and collaborations. The department is part of an interdisciplinary research project by the International Bodenseehochschule IBH on the challenges of digitalisation for SMEs.
  • Support for founders
The Kilometer 1 initiative of the university and the University of Konstanz is particularly worth mentioning to support Start-ups, and Start-ups are supported here right from the start. Through the initiative, there are also numerous contacts to individual networks and other organisations that promote and support start-ups within the region.
