    Current teaching with a strong practical relevance; specialisation by choosing a field of study: Generalist - or technical sales; support for company start-ups during your studies (entrepreneurship as a subject, entrepreneurship seminar, TRACE programme for qualified students); close cooperation between the departments of Economics and Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics: Professors from both departments carry out many modules together, which promotes and strengthens the integrative understanding of the system among the students; more than 150 partner universities worldwide; double degrees.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Departments are members of the Magellan Exchange Network with approximately 30 universities in Europe and the USA; departments are members of the DHIK (German Consortium for International Cooperation); possibility of a double degree with 2 partner universities in China and Mexico; possibility of a thesis (Bachelor or Master) at Auburn University in the USA; the department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics has established the function of the international representative; the department of Economics involved has an international faculty office to support the students.

    22 laboratories and an own workshop; laser processing, rapid prototyping, 5-axis milling machine, CAD / CAM, supersonic duct, supersonic wind duct, CT and X-ray devices, 3D and scanning electron microscopy, thin-film and surface analysis, welding technology; adhesive technology laboratory, Industry 4.0 model factory, comprehensive coverage with WiFi, free internet access, free access to modern IT technology at the university, IT-based auditorium equipment, comprehensive equipment with projectors, business simulation.

    Students can undertake R&D projects in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, cooperation with practical projects and final theses with many research institutions in Aachen (Fraunhofer Institute, FKA, IKA, FIR etc.); Laser Application, Welding Technology, Rapid Prototyping, Non-Destructive Materials Testing, Mechatronics, Robotics, Microtechnology, Aerodynamics and Flow Acoustics - inter-disciplinary element: joint courses with other departments at FH Aachen (Economics, Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering)
  • Support for founders
    TRACE entrepreneurship programme: Additional qualification for students to develop entrepreneurial skills to establish initial contacts and to gain access to Aachen’s entrepreneurs’ network. “Entrepreneurship” module: Within a group, students develop a start-up idea and create a realistic business plan; they are supported by start-up coaches; industry experts evaluate the idea and business plan. In the entrepreneurship seminar module, students get in touch with representatives from the field.
  • Other special features
    Project “Guter Studienstart” for high school graduates and freshmen; ANPAK adaptation course during the semester to support students with difficulties in mathematics; product workshop: At the beginning of the semester, compulsory courses are offered for a week, which refresh the already taught teaching content and show the "common thread" in teaching; Pro8: In the "pro8" semester project, teams of students work on the same task in competition against each other from the fourth semester. The respective task is set by an industrial company and then evaluated.
