    Up-to-date teaching with high practical relevance; Specialisation through choice of one branch of study: Generalist – or Technical Sales; Support of company start-ups during the course (Entrepreneurship as a subject, entrepreneurship seminar, TRACE programme for qualified students); Close cooperation between the Faculties of Economic Sciences and Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics: Professors from both faculties conduct several joint modules which promote and strengthen the integrative understanding of the system for students; More than 150 partner universities worldwide; Double degrees.

    Faculties are members of the Magellan Exchange Network with approximately 30 universities in Europe and the USA; Faculties are members of the DHIK (German Consortium for International Cooperation); Possibility of a double degree with two partner universities in China and Mexico; Possibility to complete final thesis (Bachelor or Master) at Auburn University in the USA; The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics has established an international representative; The Faculty of Economic Sciences, which is involved, has an International Faculty Office for student support.

    22 laboratories and separate workshop; laser processing, rapid prototyping, five-axis milling machine, CAD/CAM, supersonic tunnel, supersonic wind tunnel, CT and X-ray machines, 3D and scanning electron microscopy, thin film and surface analysis, welding technology; full WiFi coverage, free Internet access, free access to the university's modern IT technologies, lecture theatres with IT equipment, all rooms equipped with projectors.

    Students can undertake R&D projects in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, cooperation with practical projects and final theses with many research institutions in Aachen (Fraunhofer Institute, FKA, IKA, FIR etc.); Research focuses: Laser Application, Welding Technology, Rapid Prototyping, Non-destructive Materials Testing, Mechatronics, Robotics, Microtechnology, Aerodynamics and Flow Acoustics; Interdisciplinary approach: Joint events with other departments at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Economic Sciences, Air and Space Technology, Electrical Engineering).

    TRACE entrepreneurship programme: Additional qualification for students to develop entrepreneurial skills to establish initial contacts and to gain access to Aachen’s entrepreneurs’ network. “Entrepreneurship” module: Within a group, students develop a start-up idea and create a realistic business plan; they are supported by start-up coaches; industry experts evaluate the idea and business plan. In the Company Seminar module, students interact with industry representatives (e.g. entrepreneurs, politicians, bankers).

    Barrier-free facilities; All lecture halls, seminar rooms, PC rooms and staff offices provide barrier-free access, representative for students with disabilities or chronic illness; Contact person for questions and problems in coping with university, psychosocial counselling; Support for students in overcoming personal and course-related difficulties. Under Section 16a of the framework examination regulations (RPO), students with health problems can request equalisation of disadvantages.

    “Good Start to Studies” project for secondary school graduates and freshers; Semester-integrated adjustment course ANPAK to provide support in case of difficulties in mathematics; Product workshop: At the start of the semester, a week of compulsory courses are offered to refresh previous knowledge and demonstrate the main strand of teaching; Pro8: In the "pro8" semester project, teams of students work on the same task in competition against each other from the fourth semester. The respective task is set by an industrial company and then evaluated.
