Special features regarding teachingAt the Department of Political Science in Mannheim, students are trained by internationally leading scholars and benefit from a very good supervision ratio. In particular, the high quality of the internationally oriented research infrastructure and the excellent study environment should be emphasized. Seminars take place in small groups and there are additional tutorials. Furthermore, students receive excellent training in quantitative methods of social research and are advised by a professional student service.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe research in Mannheim is characterised by the following main topics: Political psychology; political sociology; political communication; social media; political systems; electoral behaviour; participation and representation; theories of negotiation, choice and delegation; European politics and integration; EU decision-making; conflict studies; human rights; quantitative and qualitative methods; political economy. The research is complemented and supported by the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research and the Collaborative Research Centre 884 "Political Economy of Reforms".

Support for foundersThe University of Mannheim offers a very good environment for students who are interested in starting a business. The subject Business Administration is very broad and explicitly covers business start-ups. In addition, the Institute for SME Research conducts research on the topic of business start-ups and offers advice on business start-ups. In addition, there are several student initiatives that deal with the topic of business start-ups.
