Special features regarding teachingBalanced education in Economics and Engineering, teaching of soft skills, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering branches of study, inter-disciplinary professional fields, incl. seminars and case studies/project work (Bachelor's) nine-week subject-related work placement (Bachelor's), four-week technical stage I work placement (Bachelor's), theoretical or practical thesis, professional competence, continuation course in consecutive (e.g. Industrial Engineering) and non-consecutive Master's courses.

Special features regarding the equipmentParticipation in the (technical) equipment of the Mechanical Engineering faculties: e.g. laboratory for integrated product development, project house METEOR, experimental and digital factory, as well as electrical engineering and information engineering: e.g. computer workstations with FEM software for the development of electromagnetic energy converters, laboratory hall including transformers, DC machines, engine test benches; Educational licences for various software tools, such as for material flow analysis.
Special features regarding research activitiesParticipation in the CLUSTER OF EXCELLENCE “MERGE Technologies for Multifunctional Lightweight Structures” (federal cluster of excellence), DFG SFB 692 high-strength aluminium-based lightweight materials for safety components, DFG SFB Transregio 96: thermal-energy design of tool machines as well various young researchers groups and further research projects in cooperation with the departments of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering/Information Engineering.
