Support for foundersIn the third year, all students can choose the “World Track”. This option enables students to take part in a programme to develop a start-up company. The programme comprises events on topics relating to entrepreneurship especially for innovative start-ups and development of a business idea and a business plan.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe aim of the university is to make it possible for students with disabilities/chronic illnesses to study at Jacobs University. The contact for students and staff in this case is the "Equal Opportunity Committee" (with equal representation) which offers, among other things, assistance in meeting the needs of students and staff with disabilities and works to represent the interest of minorities and ethnic groups and operates the Counselling Centre. The disadvantage compensation required in accordance with the Bremen Higher Education Act (extended examination periods/standard periods of study) is granted in full.
Characteristics of diversity advancementIn selecting students, academic staff and in professorial appointments, we pay particular attention to achieving equal representation in gender, nationality and/or origin and educational background. This intended diversity is particularly apparent among the academic staff members. There are further dedicated means of support and advancement within the framework of research training groups.
