  • Special features regarding teaching
    Guiding principle of the CBS is to orient the organisation of the course and the content of the degree courses towards student employability. International assistant professors and rigorous organisation create an efficient, forward-looking degree course. Small study groups and intensive supervision of students by professors shape the learning environment at the CBS. A network of partner universities in several states and close contacts in industry offer the opportunity to gain work experience during the course in International Studies.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Students and lecturers from all over the world get to know each other on the CBS campus. Students can spend a semester at one of the renowned CBS partner universities and combine it with a work placement abroad. The course provides students with expertise and experience that are indispensable for anyone working at international companies or companies with international activities. Under the supervision of an assistant professor with a global background, students’ foreign language and cross-cultural skills are trained.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The campus is located at Hardefuststraße 1 in the south of Cologne and is easily accessible by public transport. Apart from fully equipped, state-of-the-art classrooms, the CBS also has a campus-wide WiFi as well as computer rooms with access to laser and colour printers and scanners. The reference library is well stocked with databases. Thanks to the cooperation with the University and City Library of Cologne (USB) since 2010, CBS students also have free access to the extensive inventory and wide range of databases of the university library nearby.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Inter-disciplinary cluster programmes were formed on the basis of the various departments of the CBS, which better link the research skills of the individual academics/professors and thus sharpen and strengthen the research skills of the Cologne Business School. This broadly structured cluster will continue to grow in the coming years with the support of qualified staff. The areas concerned include Sustainability, Value Chain Management, Development Studies & Management, Tourism & Management, Banking & Finance, Leadership and Media Management & Entrepreneurship.

  • Support for founders
    The CBS is a member of the academic entrepreneurship network cologne, which provides students and alumni with support and advice on starting one’s own business. Apart from CBS, the hgnc comprises five other universities, four regional technology and incubator centres, two savings bank in the region, the City of Cologne and the New Entrepreneurship Association (Neues Unternehmertum Rheinland e.V.). The hgnc offers free services, such as entrepreneurship seminars or consolidation of topics such as financial planning, funding programmes, marketing and sales, law and networking for entrepreneurs, as well as award-winning competitions for entrepreneurs.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    Students with special needs have completed their studies at the CBS successfully in the past on account of all classrooms being wheelchair-accessible and because visually impaired students were provided with special teaching and exam materials.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    The CBS has made a commitment to the Diversity Charter. The Diversity Charter is a corporate initiative to promote diversity at companies and institutions. It was created by Daimler, BP Europa SE (formerly Deutsche BP), Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Telekom in December 2006. Over 2,000 companies and public institutions have signed the Diversity Charter.
