Special features regarding teachingA particular strong point of the career-integrated programme is its excellent personnel. The team of lecturers combines academic expertise and corporate success. Students get to experience a maximum of practical relevance in the courses. The concept of networking is also taken into account. Students do not only benefit from each other, but also become acquainted with a wide range of experts whom they will be able to call on for corresponding questions (in connection with the Master’s project or in their subsequent professional careers). The programme is characterised by a high percentage of attendance courses.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe team of lecturers include international standards and practices in their teaching in a subject-appropriate manner. For example, “Marketing” in module 3 explicitly discusses the essential aspects of international marketing in view of the globalisation of markets (a special challenge for SMEs). Students are given deeper insights into international aspects through two elective modules, which imply a stay in an English-speaking country and are carried out in cooperation with international partner universities of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences.
Special features regarding the equipmentSeparate modern facilities at the Düren site with very good technical equipment and its own catering. Good transport links. All study materials are supplied via an online learning platform. Furthermore, all students have free access to the modern IT technology of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences with web-based BSCW workstations, virtual meeting rooms, computer rooms as well as IT-based study and exam organisation.
Special features regarding research and developmentApplication-related issues of companies involved; Current topics from the fields of entrepreneurship and management: Business model development, reference patterns, success factors in team composition, funding models, crowdsourcing, lean management, agile organisational structures, multi-project management.
Support for foundersProspective entrepreneurs acquire the necessary business skills in the programme, the requisite soft skills and contacts that will help them with the successful start and operation of their own businesses. They also benefit from a network of specialists with the appropriate expertise that was developed during their studies.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsFlexible course design and individual arrangements are possible.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe Aachen University of Applied Sciences develops and revises a comprehensive diversity concept for the university. The concept’s guiding principle aims to realise the idea of a diverse study structure as comprehensively as possible. The approaches of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences are concentrated on improving opportunities for access and participation for an ever more heterogeneous group of students and staff members. The Aachen University of Applied Sciences has participated in the diversity audit “Promoting Diversity in NRW!” since December 2012.
Other special featuresThe programme’s profile is shaped in particular by the Master’s project. This is where students learn to avail themselves of entrepreneurial opportunities and develop a sense for innovation and opportunities. The option to select a company representative as the Master thesis supervisor and second reviewer produces a combined teaching-coaching concept that allows graduates to receive an excellent education in management, leadership, team building, team work and market orientation.
