Foreign language courses
There is a foreign language centre. The language centre offers course-integrated courses in 13 different languages in the 2016/2017 winter semester (Arabic, Chinese, German as a Foreign Language, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Turkish). It is also a licensed TestDaF centre (for German as a foreign language), i.e. prospective students who do not have a German school leaving certificate giving right of entry to higher education (Abitur) can show with the TestDaF that they have sufficient linguistic knowledge to start a degree course at a German institute of higher education. Autonomous learning is supported in the independent study centre: the independent study centre at the language centre features specially equipped computer workstations with multimedia programmes for 14 languages. The team of the language centre is regularly involved in the introduction week for first semester students, initiates language tandems, and offers an "open learning workshop: English" to support all those students haven't practised English in a while or who don't feel comfortable in English. more information
Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Members of the University of Göttingen (in Vechta). Students attending the institution can The courses are oriented towards leisure and recreational sports and scheduled so that movement and sporting activities can be combined with fun and communication. In terms of health sports, strength is built up and individual performance improved. The university has a gymnasium, a gym hall, a multi-functional room, a fitness centre, an indoor-cycling area as well as a multi-functional 'beach' site, a football pitch and track and field athletics facilities in the outdoor area. more information
