Opening times central course guidance
Personal consultation (drop-in office hours): Mon and Thu 10:00-12:00, Tue and Wed 14:00-16:00, Thu 15:00 -17:00. Telephone consultation: Mon, Wed, Thu, 10:00-11:00 and Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 14:00-15:00, Thu 15:00-17:00. Appointments are also possible by arrangement.
Special features regarding the library
Library system with a central university library and local specialist libraries; Opening hours of the library: Mon-Fri 8:00-24:00, Sat 11:00-20:00, Sun 11:00-18:00; Good range of electronic and printed information is available for students and electronic information and services, including training on information skills and administration of bibliographical references; Modern learning landscape with group work rooms; several modern reading rooms with individual lighting, power and internet connections, lockers for learning materials; Scanners; University library café; “Kulturtreffpunkt” in the University Library (UB), offering talks, exhibitions, events. more information
Foreign language courses
There is a foreign language centre. Approx. 170 general and subject-based language courses per semester: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish. courses focused on specialist language and specific technical language courses at the request of the faculties. Approved to conduct UNIcert® examinations as part of the accredited UNIcert® training programme, and the standardised international tests TestDaF, IELTS, DELE, DELF/DALF, Swedex, Tisus, CNaVT. more information
Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Hochschule für Gesundheit (hsg), Ev. FH Bochum, TH Bochum, Bochum University of Applied Sciences, EBZ Business School. Students attending the institution can participate in the sports programme of the TU Dortmund, University of Duisburg-Essen (with the status of being a student at another higher education institution.) The University has its own fitness and health sports centre in the city centre, incl. a fitness studio covering 1,100 sq m; In the winter semester 2016/17 there are around 330 courses weekly in 90 types of sports; large Diving Sports Department; cooperation with other sports operators to offer golf, inline skating, tennis (indoor), SUP; artificial lawn field. more information
