Special features regarding the library
The Düsseldorf University and State Library supports students by providing literature – with 2.5 million print media, 3,400 current print journals and 44,000 licensed electronic journals and a comprehensive range of service and training from online chat to electronic course reserves. It provides 2,200 individual workstations with Internet access via WiFi as well as many group workspaces and very good working conditions every day until midnight – also at weekends. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The participation of students of the Heinrich-Heine Universität in the sports offerings of other universities is decided by the respective university. In the state-run universities of North Rhine-Westphalia that are members of the state conference of university sports in NRW (Landeskonferenz Hochschulsport NRW), students can participate for a fee. But even then, only some of the sports offerings of the universities can be used. The students of all higher education institutions can participate in the sports programme after paying an admission fee (30€/2 semesters). The local sports programme decides whether to admit of students of the Heinrich-Heine Universität to the sports programmes of external universities. The Düsseldorf university sports programme is comprised of the four state Düsseldorf universities. The programme includes over 70 different types of sports with more than 120 courses per week. The university sports programme is financed via the solidarity contribution in the enrolment fee. more information
