Special features regarding the library
The library rooms and a reading room are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for members of the university. Literature can be borrowed and returned by means of an electronic self-service borrowing system. All journal literature and databases are available in an electronic format (insofar as permitted by the publishing house) and can therefore also be used from external locations. There is a separate specialist library for Complementary Medicine. more information
Foreign language courses
There is no foreign language centre. German as a Foreign Language (DaF), weekly courses on three levels, crash course German as a foreign language, week-long course before the start of the semester.
Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Participation is free of charge. Students attending the institution can also participate free of charge in the university sports programme of the Ruhr University Bochum. The programme is open to: Students of all higher education institutions. The sports programme of the Universität Witten/Herdecke is dynamic and individually adapted to students' current sports preferences. This also includes competition preparation, work-oriented and preventive exercises, and the integration of course participants into the organisation and conception. Focus on competitive sports and participation in national and international competitions is particularly fostered and supported. more information
