Special features regarding the library
The university and state library of Saxony-Anhalt (ULB) is the country's largest scientific library. Its more than 5.5 million collection units are distributed among the central library and 12 branch libraries. In addition, there are more than 22,000 continuously held printed or electronic journals, an extensive textbook collection, prints, manuscripts, bequests and map/graphics collections from the 16th-18th centuries. There is a foreign language centre. Offered languages: English, French, German as a foreign language, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Dutch. more information
Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Students attending the institution can participate in the Hochschule Merseburg sports programme. Currently, due to corona, only some courses are held in online format. Participation is subject to fees. The programme is open to: Burg Giebichtenstein University of Art Halle, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences. Family-friendly university: The fitness area is supervised all year round - also on Sundays and public holidays. Diving training is possible in the sports centre, also including diving excursions. The annual highlights include the winter ball in January, the summer activity day and the Uni-Challenge of the MLU. The University Sports Centre (USZ) provides the stage programme for the Long Night of Sciences. The MLU has been offering the "Break Express", as an active break for employees, since 2016. more information
