Largest technical library in Thuringia with a focus on engineering, computer science, natural sciences, media studies and economics with numerous reading areas, group workspaces, carrels, seating areas, a relaxation area and a modern IT infrastructure with WiFi throughout the entire area of use. Extensive range of textbooks and specialist literature, online access to databases, e-books and journals. Seminar offer for literature research, administration and scientific work. There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a foreign language, Spanish, Russian, Chinese. The foreign language courses offered by the other higher education institutions in Thuringia can be used if open and vacancies exist; this course work is recognised. There is also a cooperation with the Adult Education Centre (Volkshochschule) in Arnstadt-Ilmenau where language courses can be recognised (e.g. Japanese, Swedish). more information |
The university offers its own sports programme. Students are allowed to take part in university sports programs of all Thuringian universities. Participation is subject to fees. Program is open for: Students of institutions of higher education in Thuringia, at the student rate. Students of other higher education institutions can participate as ‘external members’ if there is free capacity. Excellent sports facilities (climbing wall, newly refurbished grass court, tennis court, beach volleyball court, pump track, archery range) right on campus; A varied sports programme including excursions during the semester holidays; Campus football league, numerous student tournaments.
