Mornings Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 09:00-13:00, Wed 11:00-13:00; Afternoons Tue 14:00-18:00, Wed and Thu 14:00-16:00. Appointments are only possible by arrangement.
Special features regarding the library
With a stock of nearly 4 million volumes and extensive digital resources, Thuringia University and State Library (ThULB) is not only valued as a "place of learning" but also as a provider of information. The "Universal Multimedia Electronic Library" of the ThULB is a powerful platform for various applications. Members of the university can publish work electronically worldwide and integrate multimedia into teaching, e.g. using the electronic course reserves in which lecturers can make materials available. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Participation is subject to fees. The programme is open to: The university sports programme is open to students, staff, alumni and trainees of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena University of Applied Sciences, the Staatliche Berufsschule für Gesundheit and Soziales, the Studentenwerk Jena-Weimar and members of the University Sports Club. Anyone from outside the university who is interested in taking part can participate in our university sports courses if there is free capacity. Students attending the institution can Participation in the sports programme of all higher education institutions in Thuringia is also possible through university sports. Jena university sports programme presents a very special range of activities. There are more than 450 courses in over 80 types of sports given by 220 instructors. In addition to traditional sports, many new activities can be tried out, e.g. jugger, rugby, ultimate frisbee, acrobatics, cheerleading and many more. Surfing, gliding and sailing are also organised through collaborations. Sauna and fitness facilities in addition to courts/pitches and equipment can also be booked. Courses without trainers are also available as free training times along with a varied programme of events. more information
