The university library Duisburg-Essen with its 6 specialist libraries is responsible for providing around 3200 research staff and more than 40,000 students of the UDE with literature & information; it is also available to the interested public in the region. The library supports an integrated research process from searching for information to the procurement & management of media. This includes the active promotion of open access publishing in its various forms & the presentation of research output through supervision. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. Participation in sports programs of other universities is possible for our students. The programme is open to: Students of University Ruhr West in cooperation, and students of all other universities. The sports programs are open to students over the age of 16, university staff and guests. 2009 university sports club; fitness studios on the Duisburg and Essen campuses; trend sports such as American football, spinning, Zumba; sports trips; cycling programme and more. more information
