Duisburg-Essen University Library, with its 6 departmental libraries, is responsible for the literature and information supply of approximately 3,200 academic staff and more than 40,000 students of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), but it is also available to interested citizens of the region. The library supports an integrated research process from information research to the procurement & management of media. This includes, among other things, active promotion of open-access publishing in its different iterations and the presentation of research achievements through its supervision. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Participation in sports programs of other universities is possible for our students. During the coronavirus pandemic, however, most courses are held online in home training. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. The programme is open to: Students of University Ruhr West in cooperation, and students of all other universities. The sports programs are open to students over the age of 16, university staff and guests. 2009 university sports club; fitness studios on the Duisburg and Essen campuses; trend sports such as American football, spinning, Zumba; sports trips; cycling programme and more. more information
