Special features regarding the library
The university library Duisburg-Essen with its 6 specialist libraries is responsible for providing around 3200 research staff and more than 40,000 students of the UDE with literature & information; it is also available to the interested public in the region. The library supports an integrated research process from searching for information to the procurement & management of media. This includes the active promotion of open access publishing in its various forms & the presentation of research output through supervision. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Some courses are free of charge, some subject to fees. Students attending the institution can participate in the sports programme of all universities. The programme is open to: Students at the Hochschule Ruhr West in cooperation and students from all other universities.
