The library system (main library and five departmental libraries) is one of the main academic library sites in Germany. The stock comprises 9.9 million items, of which 7 million are printed works and 1.3 are e-books, digital texts and text collections. In addition, there are 7,371 print journal subscriptions, 31,740 e-journals and 500 databases. Students can consult stock both on the library premises (7 days/week) and loan these for use at home. E-journals, databases and e-books can be used by students at any location via the internet. more information |
There is a foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Turkish, Arabic, Ancient Greek, Persian, Swedish. more information |
The university offers its own sports programme. Participation is subject to fees. Students may also take part in the sports programmes of all the public higher education institutions and universities of applied sciences in the federal state of Hesse. Guests can generally register to take part in the courses of the university sports programme for a fee. The Goethe-Universität sports centre always endeavours to offer additional marginal sports. more information |
