Greifswald University Library is the central place of learning and study for the University’s students and researchers. The library system has 2.2 million print books and databases, electronic media and advisory services, distributed between four sites: Departmental library for mathematics, science, medicine, law and economics; Departmental library for the humanities; old university library holding special collections, music, art and a storage library. The departmental libraries are open daily until midnight. more information

Special features regarding university sports
The university offers its own sports programme. Participation is subject to fees. Students of the Universität Greifswald can use the sports programmes of other universities, provided the other universities allow it. Students from other universities have the option of using the university sports programme of the Universität Greifswald. Over 70 sports are offered in the fields of fitness, sports games, health sports and martial arts. The outstanding natural location beside the Bay of Greifswald, on the river Ryck and on the Danish Wieck enable access to further water sports. Water sport is a special feature of the Greifswald university sports programme. Students can register for courses in dinghy sailing, windsurfing, rowing and canoeing. There is also an extensive range of courses for fitness and health, with a focus on preventative and curative aspects. more information
